Become A Certified Trainer

Facilitator Training is required when you initially get the VDT® program, and teaches you how to set up and conduct the VDT for your staff or the general public. This training is available online or in-person with a VDT Certified Trainer. Most needs and goals for the VDT are met by getting the program, membership/license and facilitator training. VDT® Facilitator

VDT® Certified Trainer (CT)

Facilitator training required to conduct the VDT. Available online through SWD or in-person by a Certified Trainer. VDT materials and annual membership required prior to training.

Application and in-person training required, available 4 times/year. Optional specialized training also available. VDT materials and annual membership required prior to training.

Conduct the VDT for your own staff and general public/families/non-professional healthcare for free unlimited times.

Can do VDT for other organization's staff for free one time only per location. After first free event, they should contact SWD to get program or paid Tour event conducted by a CT. Providing contact info to SWD can earn 5% referral fee.

Can do VDT for other organization's staff for free one time only per location. After first free event, CT can help them get the program or a paid Tour event. CT can receive 30-70% of revenue generated.

Can train Tour Guide helpers to do specific jobs in the VDT (except debrief, only trained facilitators conduct the debrief). Cannot train other facilitators. Online training is $350 per person.

Can train Tour  Guides and facilitators in your own company for free. Can train facilitators in-person for another organization once program materials and membership in place.

Annual membership renewal required for continued license to use VDT and accedd to member portal resources.

Annual membership renewal and Certified Trainer recertification required for continued license to use VDT as a CT and portal access.

Can do the VDT for a fee anywhere, unlimited times and receive compensation through SWD.

Can do the VDT for a fee in specialized settings like hospitals, universities, conferences, etc.

With additional training, can provide fee-based VDT services like Hospital VDT, Inclusive VDT, Familiy Consulting, and more.

Can provide CEUs for the Tour for social workers, nursing, activities professionals and dieticians.

  • Cost is $2,875 – includes the VDT manual and full set of sensory Tour components, annual license/membership and in-person training. Optional 3rd day for specialized training such as Hospital or Inclusive VDT is an additional $350.
  • Annual renewal of $400 provides ongoing support from SWD and is required for active Certified Trainer status.
