Many residents of our nursing homes experience this reality every holiday season.

Gifts of Light Impacts Communities Nationwide

Gifts of Light is a program in which individual or group sponsors purchase and donate new items to be gifted to nursing home residents. The objective of Gifts of Light is to make sure no elder living in long term care feels forgotten during the holiday season.

Every holiday season, nursing home elders without loved ones to visit them or share in gift giving, are left feeling lonely and neglected. Nursing homes with our Dreams program send us their residents’ wishlists, which are then matched up with local volunteers who shop for and deliver their gifts. Thanks to the generosity of donors, sponsors and volunteers, we are able to provide funding, gifts, and visits to brighten elders’ lives every holiday season.

​In 2023, over 2,200 elders were served through the Gifts of Light program in 46 nursing homes in 10 different states thanks to over 200 individuals and corporate volunteers.

Here’s how the holiday magic happens:

  • Register your nursing center to participate by October 24, 2024. Must be a Dreams program member to participate, contact Dreams@secondwind.org for info.
  • We’ll send a wishlist form and instructions. Submit your resident wishlists by October 31, 2024.
  • Volunteers will be instructed to deliver gifts and visits the week of December 16 – 21, 2024.

 Give a donation. Second Wind Dreams will purchase and drop-off or send the gifts for you.
