Can you imagine being alone during the holidays?

Many residents of our Nursing Centers experience this reality every holiday season.

Gifts of Light Impacts Communities Nationwide

Gifts of Light is a program in which individual or group sponsors purchase and donate new items to be gifted to Nursing Center residents. The objective of Gifts of Light is to make sure no elder living in long term care feels forgotten during the holiday season.

Every holiday season, Nursing Center elders without loved ones to visit them or share in gift giving, are left feeling lonely and neglected. Nursing Center with our Dreams program send us their residents’ wishlists, which are then matched up with local volunteers who shop for and deliver their gifts. Thanks to the generosity of donors, sponsors and volunteers, we are able to provide funding, gifts, and visits to brighten elders’ lives every holiday season.

Here’s how the holiday magic happens:

Register your nursing center to participate by November 2, 2026. Must be a Dreams program member to participate, contact Dreams@secondwind.org for info.
We’ll send a wishlist form and instructions. Submit your resident wishlists before November 16, 2026.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to deliver gifts and conduct visits through December 25, 2026.

Adopt a Senior through Gifts of Light®:

Help make the holidays brighter for a senior who deserves to feel remembered, valued, and loved.

Through Second Wind Dreams’ Gifts of Light program, individuals, families, businesses, and community groups can adopt seniors living in skilled nursing communities. Many of these seniors have limited family support and may otherwise go without a personal gift during the holiday season.

When you adopt a senior, you will receive a personalized wish list to help you select meaningful gifts based on that resident’s interests, needs, and favorite things. Every gift is an opportunity to remind a senior that someone is thinking of them this holiday season.

Whether you adopt one senior or an entire group, your kindness can bring comfort, joy, and connection when it matters most!
